Lecture Notes-
- On the net you find computers and connections are cables between the computers.
- On the web you find documents,sounds,videos...information and connections are hypertext links.
- The web is a universe of accessible information stored on computers throughout the world.
- Web browsers are programmes that allow users to access and explore the pages of the world wide web. (Internet explorer, mozilla firefox).
Scotsman evaluation-
The Scotsman site has tried to appear authentic by using the template from another site and just altering it with their name.
- There are no contact details
- It comes under a subdomain, which shows that this person has just signed up under the name of the main website scotsman.com and therefore it could be anybody.
- Some of the hyperlinks on this website are inactive. Including information regarding the first prize
Molossia Evaluation -
The molossia site has tried to appear authentic in many ways. This can only be matched by the mistakes they have made and that they are not an authentic site.
- Barely any contact details
- Current time in Molossia is different to the region it is located
- The layout of the website shows that it is not really a professional website
- When the keyword Molossia is searched on search engines, there is barely any information showing to proove that the country is real. (Google search finds limited results).
Martin Luther King Evaluation-
I thought that the martin luther king site would have some interesting information about the famous man but i guess i was wrong. This site is making a joke about the man and it isnt really funny, just lame. I have found out that he didnt feel very forgiving towards the white people back then as you can assume but i did not know he would refer to them as "sick white brothers". Although the racism back then would have been soaring, MLK was an icon and a leader for the black people and i respect him for that.
Origins Of The Internet -
Discusses the first recorded description of the social interactions that could be enabled through networking which was a series of memos in August 1962 written by J.C.R. Licklider of MIT. Leonard Kleinrock at MIT published the first book on packet switching theory in 1964. The rest of the article discusses the steps that proceeded to make the ARPANET network that would eventually turn into the internet.
Histroy Of The World Wide Web -
Gives information on not only the history of the internet and computers but also search engines and databases online. The first search engine was created in 1990 by the McGill Univeristy in Montreal, Canada called ARCHIE. The site then goes on to show the evolution of search engines and databases.
